get to know me :: {influence link up}

hey, that's me!

Today I'm linking up with the gals of the Influence Conference for a get-to-know-me extravaganza.  I'm so excited for Influence, and to meet in person so many ladies whose lives I've followed online.  I'm also looking forward to some inspiration, and of course, some old fashioned r&r... not to mention the Thursday night Stripes Party.

three get-to-know-me things

ONE: I'm an over-committer.  Anything I write after that sentence becomes ridiculous (this is draft number seven of this sentence, so you can believe me), so I'm leaving it at that.  That being said, does anyone need help with anything?

TWO: i'm one of five children.  i grew up crazy.  we had a conversion van and proudly pulled up to church and proceeded to exit like the israelites, one after another.  and now i work in the family business.  heaven help us all.

THREE:   i'm a news junky.  i love the news. ask me anything.  i even got satellite radio in my car so i can listen to my favorite news channel no matter where i am.  wait, is that weird?

two things i'm looking forward to about the conference

one: being back on my old stomping ground.  that's right... st. vincent's hospital in indy is the place of my birth, and spring ridge court in carmel (an indy 'burb) is where i spent my first six-ish years.  my best friend elizabeth lived just across the creek behind our house, and my little brother and hers had the time of their two-year-old lives one day, yanking all our neighbor's tomato plants from her perfectly pruned vegetable garden.  not one of our finer moments.

two: inspiration.  i spend my days in a job that requires a whole lot of "out", with not much "in".  can you relate? i'm looking forward to the opportunity to sit back and listen and take copious notes and drink yummy coffee.  and connect with like-minded women.  and hang with my mom and sister.  because they're my favorites.

one thing i can't leave home without

chapstick. CHAPSTICK.  Who's with me?!  Don't be bashful. The addiction to need for a very specific balm is nothing to be ashamed of.  My current choice? Standard Burts Bees. No flavor (it could be my imagination, but I swear the flavored kind makes my lips chapped)... Just the regular kind in the honey-yellow tube.  I have one in my purse and one in my desk drawer at the office.  And next to my bed, just to get all crazy-change-it-up adventurous, I have a little green egg of EOS.  I haven't been using it long enough to make a judgement on the stuff.

    1. Darcy- where did you grow up? Do you still live in indiana? It's funny... Since I lived there until I was six, my most vivid memories are of the incredible Indianapolis Children's Museum! :) looking forward to meet you soon...

  5. I am definitely with you on the chapstick. I'm sure I'll have that within arm's reach the entire conference!

    I also work in a job that requires a lot of out, and my job before that did too. So I'm looking forward to being poured into these three days, so I can see with fresh eyes and begin to think about it all differently.
